About Me

My name is Jan Casey,  I’ve been sewing for about 50 years.  I started embroidering kitchen towels by hand when I was about 6 or 7.  From towels I started embroidering pillow cases then dresser scarves.  My first real project from a Simplicity pattern was a dress for my sewing badge for Girl Scouts. 

I took my first real sewing class in junior high school where sewing was mandatory.  We had to make a gathered skirt.  In high school, I took every sewing class I could fit into my schedule.  During high school I also made school clothes for my younger sister.  

After graduating high school I got married.  I started sewing baby clothes while waiting for the birth of my daughter.

I have taken several advanced sewing classes, including Palmer/Pletsch, Michelle Griffith, Martha Pullen, Floriani Embroidery Company, Husqvarna-Viking Company, Pfaff America Company and many more.

I stated teaching beginning sewing in 2005 on Saturdays.  When I retired from my full time job in 2008 I started adding more classes during the week.
